Digitization, smart technologies and social media are influencing travel habits and are changing booking behavior and the whole customer journey. They give access to new markets, but they also intensify market competition tremendously. Globalization and economic development lead to the emergence of new source markets. Quicker and cheaper means of transport make the world a village and support the traveler's flexibility. Demographic change and urbanization are creating new target groups and travel preferences. Additionally, the individualization of Lifestyles and new destinations are influencing the traveler’s choice. The average duration of stay is continually sinking, regular guests are becoming a rare species. Nevertheless, tourism is still a growth sector: According to IPK research, 2019 travel activity will grow globally further by 4%. Is that also the case in your region or company?
A smart, resource-friendly and sustainable strategy is the basis for tomorrow's business and ensures an efficient use of marketing budgets. By means of a clear market analysis and strategy it is possible to identify new market opportunities. Targeted investments in promising experiences, products and markets increase revenues and value added. Consequently, the occupancy rate can be increased and the risk of dependency on existing markets can be reduced by different travel behavior from international guests.
